Job summary:
the state procurement office (spo) within adoa is seeking a procurement manager. This position will serve the state by developing and implementing spo strategies associated with the procurement of goods and services for multiple agencies in arizona state service.
Strategic contracts are used by approximately 120 state agencies, boards and commissions as well as more than 550 arizona cooperative members. The incumbent assists management by formulating sourcing strategies based on current spending and requirements, supply challenges, and marketplace conditions; evaluates vendors based on factors such as price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support; works with various agencies/departments to identify current and future needs based on strategic goals/objectives and will employ a suite of lean tools to ensure activities align with
business
strategies; may serve on or lead project teams: develops and maintains professional and dependable relationships with suppliers and customers; uses a variety of data analytics to assess cost/price analysis; participates in proposals, negotiations, and management of complex procurement activities; makes recommendations and develops contractual language to ensure contract terms and conditions are met; gathers information via supplier databases and other sources; drives generation of a supplier performance management system; encourage agency use of the existing vendor discrepancy reporting tools, re-training them as needed.
